44 Matt Nielson
Matt Nielson made an immpressive NBL debut in 1997 winning the rookie of the year award and starting most of the last half of the season. Nielson first established himself as a future NBL star in the CBA where at the age of eighteen he led the Australian Institute of Sport in scoring, rebounding, assists, steals and Feild Goal percentage. An amazing accomplishment for someone 204cm. He played a key role for the tenth placed Kings in 1997. Will have to get stronger and improve his outside shot if he wants to step up to the next level. He has already been scouted by NBA scouts and has had some contact with Chicago Bulls General Manager Jerry Krause. He improved his jumper towards the end of the season and even showed a three point shot. Nielson will be one of the future stars of the NBL.
