Jason Cameron came into the NBL in 1993 where he played 22 games averaging 5.9 ppg 2.2 apg and 2.8 rebounds per game. After such a solid start Cameron's numbers droppped the following year, but he picked it up in 1995 being promoted to the starting five and raising his averages to 7.4ppg, 2.4apg and 4.2rpg. He also lifted a lot at the defensive end, often talking on the opposiitons best offensive player and tallying 1.2 steals per contest. 1996 was another strong year for the young local product as he continued to add to his averages and help the Suns win some games. However it was a long season for the Suns and theyt again missed the play offs by a long way. However 1997 saw a big change for Cameron as the Suns signed Simon Kerle. Cameron then moved to small foward and found it to his likeing averaging over 13ppg and narrowly missing out on winning the Most Improved Player award.
